Q: How much does DiscussThis cost?
DiscussThis costs just $10 for every 50 active list members (with a $20 minimum) each month.
List set up is free for your first five lists. If you create more than 5 lists, you will be charged a $5 set up fee for each additional one.
Searchable archives are optional and cost an additional $5 per list monthly.
You can use your own domain names for an additional $50 one-time set up fee.
Q: Will moderators have access to my billing information?
No, moderators are not allowed to view or update your billing information.
Q: How can I cancel my DiscussThis account?
Login, select My Account, and then click Billing Data.
Proceed to Update My Billing Information, scroll down and click Close Your DiscussThis Account located at the bottom of that page.
Please note that there are no pro-rated refunds for cancellation.
Q: Will you send an invoice or billing statement to me?
No, we don't send invoices or billing statements. However, you can go online and view your current and previous invoices at any time.
Just login, go to My Account, and then click Billing Invoices.
Q: What is my Card Security Code?
Your Card Security Code (CSC) is a 3 or 4-digit number which is not part of your credit card number.
It appears only on the credit card itself (not on receipts or statements), so it provides some assurance that the physical card is in the possession of the buyer. This reduces the chance of fraudulent card use.
- Visa, MasterCard, and Discover Card: Your code is the last 3 digits of the number printed on the back of the credit card in the signature field.
- American Express: Your code is the 4-digit number printed on the right side above the imprinted card number on the front of the card.
Q: Why is my credit card not working or returning a Card Declined message?
Apparently, our card processor was not able to collect your payment and has sent a card declined error. Please check with your bank to see if there are any issues with your card. You may also try using another card.
Q: Can I pay for DiscussThis with a government purchasing card?
If your government purchasing card is a MasterCard, Visa, or American Express you can use it.
Just enter your purchasing card number when you are prompted for your billing information. Our system will bill your card monthly on your billing date (the date you sign up for the service).
Or, we can issue an invoice and accept payment by check or charge your card annually instead of monthly. If you want us to email you an annual invoice, let us know.
Q: Is DiscussThis on the GSA (U.S. General Services Administration) Schedule?
No, we are not on the GSA Schedule -- our prices are very low so government agencies can use their micro-purchasing authority to buy our services.
You can use your government issued credit card to pay monthly or one year in advance.
We can also issue an invoice and accept payment by check. If you want us to email you an annual invoice, just let us know.
Q: Can you bill me on a different credit card than the one I used when I signed up?
Yes. Just login to DiscussThis, select My Account from the menu, then click Billing Information. From there, select Update My Billing Information and Update credit card details to enter your new card number.
Q: When will I be billed?
You will be billed monthly on your DiscussThis billing date.
(Your billing date is the day of the month that you signed up for a regular account or upgraded from a free trial account to a regular one.)
Our system starts the billing cycle after 3:00 am EST on your billing date to accommodate customers in the West Coast US time zone.
Q: Can I have an invoice or billing statement emailed to me?
We do not have a way to email your billing statement to you, but you can quickly retrieve full billing details by clicking on "Billing History" (under "View Reports"). Click on "Printable Receipt".
Q: When does my next billing cycle start?
Our system starts the billing cycle after 3:00 am EST on the billing date (the monthly anniversary of the date on which you signed up for a paid service level). This is done in order to accommodate the west coast time zone difference.
Q: What is a "Card Security Code"?
The card security code (CSC) is a 3- or 4- digit number which is not part of the credit card number. The number appears only on the credit card itself (not on receipts or statements), so provides some assurance that the physical card is in the possession of the buyer. This reduces the chance of fraudulent card use.
For Visa, MasterCard, and Discover Card, the code is the last 3 digits of the number printed on the back of the credit card in the signature field. For American Express, it is the 4 digit number printed on the right side above the imprinted card number on the front of the credit card.
Q: Why is my credit card not working or giving a "card declined" message?
Our system completes the process a few minutes after you click "Process Card Now". However, our card processor was not able to collect the payment and has responded back with a "Card declined" error. Kindly check with your bank to see if there are any issues with this card. You may also try using another card.
Q: How do I cancel my account?
Click on My Account in the top menu bar and then on Billing Data. Proceed to Update My Billing Information and scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the "Close Your DiscussThis Account" link. There are no pro-rated refunds for cancellation.
Q: Can I pay with a government purchasing card?
Oftentimes, government purchasing cards are either a MasterCard, Visa, or American Express card. If that is the case, you can use the government purchasing card number when you are prompted for the billing information. Our systems will bill your card monthly on your billing date (the date you sign up for the service). Alternatively, we can issue an invoice and accept payment by check or charge your card for an annual payment instead of having it be billed monthly. Please let us know if you would like us to email you an annual invoice.
Q: Are you on the GSA Schedule?
We are not on the GSA Schedule -- our prices are very low that the government agencies use their micro-purchasing authority to buy our services. We have numerous government clients like the Dept. of Justice, Dept. of Commerce, and many others. You can use your government issued credit card to pay either month-to-month or one year in advance.
We can also issue an invoice and accept payment by check. Please let us know if you would like us to email you an annual invoice.
Q: Will my account get terminated automatically if my payment is late?
If we are not able to process your credit card on your billing date and don't receive payment by check, your account will be placed on hold temporarily and you will receive an email notice.
We will reactivate your account upon receipt of your payment. However, if we are not able to collect payment from you within 90 days, your account will be closed.
Q: How do I re-run my credit card or enter a new one?
Click on My Account in the top menu bar and then on Billing Data. Proceed to Update My Billing Information and scroll down until you see the Update credit card details link.
Enter your credit card number, expiration date, and the Card Security Code and click on Update.
Q: I just received a renewal notice for my pre-paid account.
If you prepay your account annually, the renewal notice you received was an automated message from our system sent prior to your account's renewal date.
We send notices 90, 60, and 30 days prior to renewal to provide sufficient time for you to issue the renewal payment. If you have already processed the check and have received another automated renewal notice, please ignore it. As soon as we receive the check, we will record it into your account.
Please send the payment to the address shown on the invoice and include your account number on the check.
Q: How do I revert my paid account to a free account?
We do not have a way to revert your paid account back to a free account. You would have to cancel your paid one and open up a new free one (you would have to re-enter all of your list members one by one since the upload feature is not available in the free version). Please be sure to export your list on your paid account before you cancel it. To cancel, click on My Account in the top menu bar and then on Billing Data. Proceed to Update My Billing Information and scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the "Close Your DiscussThis Account" link. There are no pro-rated refunds for cancellation.
Q: Can I remove or change the ads on my free archives?
The advertisements on your free archives can be removed if you upgrade to a paid account and opt to have ad-free archives. You will be billed an additional monthly charge of $5 per archived list.
Q: How do I calculate my monthly fee?
DiscussThis is among the most affordable easiest to use discussion group tools on the market. The cost is $10 per block of 50 list members with a $20 account minimum per month. So, here is how it would break down for you as your list grows:
50 members: $20/month
100 members: $20/month
150 members: $30/month
200 members: $40/month
250 members: $50/month
and so on (adding $10 per 50 additional members)
You may send an unlimited number of messages. We do not charge extra based on your message volume or amount of data transferred.
You can have as many lists as you would like. We waive the $5 list set up fee for your first 5 lists. The cost is based on the total count of list members (list members who are on more than one list are counted once for each list they are on). Searchable archives are optional and are $5 per month per list.
You can also use your own domain name which enables you to retain your own brand for your discussion group.
You can pay for the service month-to-month by credit card. Alternatively, you can pay by check for one year in advance (just multiply your monthly total estimate from the above examples by 12.) Go ahead an create an account and then mail your check to:
